The Lanark & Carluke Choral Union are pleased to announce that our rehearsal pianist is Liam Lees.

Liam Lees keeps extremely busy as a piano accompanist, vocal repertoire coach, organist and a private teacher of piano, organ, music theory and practical musicianship/aural skills.

After a spell of undergraduate study with Organ Scholarship at Glasgow University, he embarked on a period of study as an opera repetiteur at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he worked on productions including Le Nozze di Figaro and Cosi fan Tutte (Mozart), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Fidelio (Beethoven), Les Mamelles de Tiresias (Poulenc).

Liam has also made a few appearances as an orchestral keyboardist with orchestras throughout Glasgow & Edinburgh. He continues to be in great demand as a freelance accompanist and is organist & choir director at a Roman Catholic Church where he has composed a mass setting and psalms. When not in concert or rehearsal he is in great demand as a local private tutor of piano for all ages.

He lives in Motherwell with his wife Chloe, a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire, and he hopes to be moving to America in the near future to pursue the next stage of his career.

Liam’s professional musical qualifications include an associate piano teaching diploma, a diploma of piano performance, a distinction pass for grade VIII music theory and pipe organ. He is a Fellow of the Guild of Musicians and Singers for his commitment to Church Music from a very young age. He is currently working towards a licentiate diploma in pipe organ performance.
