The Lanark & Carluke Choral Union are pleased to announce that our rehearsal pianist is Liam Lees.
Liam keeps extremely busy as an accompanist and also as a private and peripatetic teacher of piano, music theory, practical musicianship and aural skills.
After a spell of undergraduate study with Organ Scholarship at Glasgow University, he embarked on studies as an opera repetiteur at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he worked on productions including Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Fidelio (Beethoven), Mamelles (Poulenc) and Cosi fan Tutte (Mozart).
He was one of the busiest accompanists in the Conservatoire during his two years there and was in constant high demand for recital work with vocalists, instrumentalists, ensembles and choirs as a pianist, accompanist, and continuo player.
Liam also makes appearances as orchestral keyboardist with orchestras and ensembles in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Liam is currently a piano tutor and accompanist at Hamilton College, an independent primary & secondary school in Lanarkshire. He is an organist and choir director at a Roman Catholic Church and is in great demand as a local private tutor of piano and for vocal/instrumental coaching.
He lives in Motherwell with his Classical-Singer Fiancée, Chloe, and hopes to be moving to America in the near future for the next stage of his career.
